Wednesday Dec 17, 2025

11:00 AM INT H2-35 (1116 ft elevation) SE Cherry Creek Trail/Reservoir and Colorado Front Range Trail Extravaganza. Meet Peter Rudy (303-406-3709) for his second ride as a leader! This ride is geared at longer distance, maintaining a consistent (not blistering) pace (15+-). Yes, it will still be a very fun and scenic ride but focused on improving your endurance for longer rides, such as for bike tours. It's not a race. The ride is limited to 12 people - you will need to sign up and RSVP on Meet-up. Text with questions.

We will meet at the little known, Cook Park Recreation Center, 7100 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver. It borders Monaco. Park in the northwest Corner of the lot. The lower part of Cherry Creek Trail is far less crowded with walkers and mostly competent, faster road cyclists.

From Cook Rec Center, we go south on the Cherry Creek Trail (CCT) to Kennedy Park, under C270 to Cherry Crk Res, then around the east side of the Res into the State Park. We will take the little known EAST SIDE Cherry Creek State Park trail. We will continue south to C470 trail, then we bike west a bit to Happy Canyon Trail, then north to CCT, and back to where the CCT enters CC State Park. But we now will be going around the Res on the west side. We will then take the CCT back to Kennedy Park, and to our point of beginning.

We will have a stopping point about halfway. I suggest bringing something to nibble. As many of you know, the entire second half is a slight (but lovely) downhill!

Here is my attempt at mapping on Ride with GPS.

11:00 AM INT H2-27 (1000 ft elevation) SW
Older Than Mt Carbon and Bear Creek Celebratory Ride
Meet Peter Rudy (303 406 3709) at the west end of the Broken Tee Golf Course parking lot, next to the South Platte River Trail Rest Area. 2101 W. Oxford, Englewood 80110 NOTE: The bathrooms and water at the Trail rest area are closed for the winter. You can use the main Broken Tee clubhouse, on the north side of the parking lot.
Not that we need an excuse, we ride to celebrate Peter Woufe's birthday (older than Mt Carbon) and wish him well on his departure for even WARMER climates for the winter. And really, you gotta ride on a 60 degree day in the last half of December.
I have labeled this INT due to pace. This ride is geared to a consistent (not blistering) pace (15+-). I have gotten feedback that several of you appreciate having a consistent pace above 12mph (at least on the flats). This ride is appropriate for analog road/gravel bikes, and road/gravel e-bikes. It is not appropriate for mountain, urban, cruiser or commuter analog or e-bikes
The ride is limited to 15 people - you will need to sign up and RSVP on Meet-up. Please do not just show up. Text with questions. THE RIDE IS WEATHER DEPENDENT. Since all riders WILL BE signed up on Meet Up, I then can instantly and effortlessly contact you by the email you used on Meet Up, should the weather change for the worse. Also, since you will signed up on Meet-up, you can DM me.
From Broken Tee, north on the South Platter to Bear Creek, west on Bear Creek and up to Mt Carbon. A stop at the golf course rest area at the mountain top. Then down and around the park on the C470 trail, onto Morrison Road, east, for a bit back to the Bear Creek Trail and to our point of beginning. The only road part is Morrison Rd, but it has the widest shoulder I have ever seen. Purposedly built for cyclists. BUT, NO PASSING ON THE RIGHT
