Sept 2024 DBTC Ride Schedule 


Saturday, August 31st:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-29-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Anderson Park (44th & Field) for a ride east on the Clear Creek Trail, which we will take to the South Platte Trail.  We will then ride south to REI for a break.  We will return to the start via the Neighborhood Bikeway (35th Ave).  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Monday September 2nd: Labor Day

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-24-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Anderson Park (44th & Field) for a ride west on the Clear Creek Trail.  At McIntyre St, we will ride north to 50th Ave, taking it west to Easley Rd.  We will ride north to 60th Ave (becomes 58th) to Hwy 93, which we take south.  Note: we will spend approximately 1 mile on a wide shoulder on Hwy 93.  After a break at Norman D. Memorial Park, we will ride DOWN Tucker Gulch to the Clear Creek Trail and back to the start.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Tuesday, September 3rd:

RESCHEDULED FROM AUGUST 20. 

MEET 08:30 AM, ROLL 08:45 AM.  ADV-H4-43-+2800' elev. gain.  "LOOP the LAKE & PEDAL the PASS with Ice Cream!"  REGISTER BY TEXT (303-905-8510)  to leader by Sunday, September 1.  Meet Marilyn Choske at the Ten Mile Creek TH parking lot (SE corner of I-70 & W Main St, Frisco).  I-70 Exit 201, Frisco Main St.  Restrooms available. The first part of this adventure is a counter-clockwise Lake Dillon loop.  From TH, ride south on bikepath towards Breckenridge, cross Hwy 9 at Swan Mtn Road and climb via bike lane to summit.  Continue on Swan Mountain's east side on bikepath, pedal to Frisco, and wind our way thru quiet neighborhoods to return.  Five-minute stop at trailhead to refuel, replenish water, restroom.  Ride at your own pace up to Copper Mountain gas station for a break and a re-group, then thru the resort to the *fun* part of the climb to Vail Pass!  After a rest and photo op at the top, return downhill to Frisco for your reward--a FREE ice cream at Foote's Rest, compliments of your DBTC!  Limit 10 riders, including leader. Wednesday, September 4th:

9:30 FUN-H2-19 SW Meet Patty Gaspar (303-618-5069) at the west end of the parking lot for the Broken Tee Golf Course (2101 W. Oxford, Englewood 80110). We’ll ride up the South Platte to Mineral up to the High Line Canal to Big Dry Creek, then back to the South Platte. We will ride some quiet residential streets, so we only cross Broadway once. Bring your lunch to socialize after the ride. After working so hard last week we deserve a break.


Thursday, September 5th:

MOVED TO FRIDAY Sept 6th DUE TO WEATHER

9:00 AM INT-H3.5 2200 feet of gain - 34 miles.  Meet Diane Short at the ski  shop/ coffee shop parking lot just east of the gas station in Downieville - exit 234 off of I-70. Bike through Empire to the top of Berthoud Pass and back. Four riders to RSVP  in order for the ride to go.  303-271-9642 (land line).  Leader is Not on MeetUp. 

9:00 am NE FUN H1 - 25 miles Rotella Park to Sand Creek and Northfield Loop Meet Fred Tarbell (630-888-5290) at Rotella Park, 1824 Coronado Pkwy N. Denver  (East end at shelter one)  We will connect to the Niver Creek bike path and ride East to South Platte trail junction. South on Platte bike path to the left over Clear Creek bridge to Denver. Follow Platte bike path South to the Sand Creek trail junction on the left. Follow Sand Creek trail to the Sand Creek Greenway and do a big loop around urban Central Park.  At 13 miles a mid ride stop at Starbucks for bathroom and refreshment.  After our break we continue along Central Park Blvd to the North Field Mall.  We extend our ride by another loop around urban Prairie Basin and Meadow Basin Parks. Return on Sand Creek to Twin Lakes for recovery, socializing, and lunch that you brought. Bring money for your Starbucks break.


Friday, September 6th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H3-25-SW Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for THE GREAT AMERICAN DINOSAUR RIDE 2024!!! The adventure begins at the Lakewood Heritage Center at Belmar Park at Ohio Street on the west side of Wadsworth, north of Mississippi and South of Alameda.  We will tour the park then head west to Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks where we will stop for breaks. Then we will continue on down through Morrison and Bear Creek Trail and return north to Belmar Park.  The first 100 attendees will ride for free!!! Lunch options will be discussed.

9:00 AM LEISURE H-1 18 SE. AUTUMN ON THE HIGHLINE. Meet Helen Berkman (720-355-5687)  at Eisenhower Park, 4300 W. Dartmouth Ave., for a classic fall ride on the Highline Canal to Heritage Village Park in Greenwood Village and back. The Highline trail is hard packed gravel. Optional lunch afterward at India Oven or other place of the group's choosing.


Sunday, September 8th: 

9:00 AM FUN-H3-20-NW (Elevation Gain = 1225 feet) - Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) THE HIDDEN GEMS OF LOUISVILLE!!!  This exciting ride full of twists and turns uses the newest portion of the HWY 36 trail that goes west from Interlocken into Boulder then loops back through Louisville and Superior using some interesting secret trails including the Double Lombard Street Experience and the famous Black Hole of Louisville! See you at the Safeway at the Rock Creek village Shopping Center in Superior for this somewhat new tour of the trails of Superior, Louisville, and South Boulder (with a few roads mixed in as required). Rock Creek village is centrally located in Superior at the NW corner of Coalton and Rock Creek Parkway (Address is 1601 Coalton Road Superior, CO. 80027.)


Monday September 9th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H1-26-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Twin Lakes Park (west of Broadway at 70th Ave, 300 W. 70th) for a ride east on the Clear Creek Trail to the South Platte Trail, which we will take north to Riverdale Park.  After a break we will return via the same route.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Tuesday, September 10th:

MEET 08:00; ROLL 08:15 ADV-H4-28-W-+3200'   "LOOKOUT/Genesee Park & Coffee/Kinney LOOP" -- Final Challenge!  REGISTER BY TEXT (303-905-8510) to leader by September 8.  Join Marilyn Choske at meet place described at end of description.   From our Golden meet place, access and pedal up Lookout Mountain Road.  From the top, continue over hilly terrain and tour through Mount Vernon.  Spill out onto Genesee area and climb to Genesee Mountain Park; return same road to Town Center for coffee stop (bring $).  Ride Genesee roads to access Hwy 40, then to Apex and Kinney Run Gulch.  Roll to start.  Limit 8 riders, including leader.  Ride will not go if rainy or forecast is for morning rain.  Call leader if in doubt.Your Club RWGPS: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43071621?privacy_code=AE09CwbP0DGWvsVT

9:00 AM LEISURE H2-19 SW SW and SE Trails.  Meet Karen Kelley cell (303-260-9029) at the west end of the parking lot for the Broken Tee Golf course (2101 W Oxford, Englewood  80110. Ride through Englewood, Cherry Hills Village to Highline Canal (gravel).  Lunch at Monaghan's for Taco Tuesday.


Wednesday, September 11th:

9:00AM (was 9:30 AM) FUN PLUS-H2toH3- 25 miles- SW Love the Back Side of the Hogback  Peter Woulfe (540) 219-6674 is leading (was Patty Gaspar) at Clement Park in the parking lot behind the library to ride into Ken Caryl and over the hog back. There are several climbs on this ride but the reward is a beautiful downhill on the road to Deer Creek Trail. We’ll go through Chatfield then wander back to Clement Park. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the ride.


Thursday, September 12th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS H1 36m NE Twin Lakes to Brighton Meet Fred Tarbell (630-888-5290) at Twin Lakes, 300 West 70th Ave,( 1/8 mi West of Broadway and 224). Bike East on Clear Creek to the South Plate trail and turn left, North.  Follow the Platte River on your right for 18 miles to Brighton.  Break and bathroom in Brighton and possibly enroute.  Bring money for a choice of refreshments at Berry Blendz, Cold Stone Creamy, or Star Bucks as desired. We will return by the same route to Twin Lakes around lunch time.  Welcome to bring your lunch items to socialize and recover after riding.   


Friday, September 13th:

9:00 AM FUN-H2-18/23-NW FRIDAY THE 13th PATRIOT DAY RIDE. Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) to honor Patriot Day with a visit to the 9/11 Monument in Broomfield during THE SPACE, TIME, 9/11 RIDE or THE HIDDEN GEMS OF BROOMFIELD! It begins near the SE corner of Sheridan and 120th at the new Whole Foods in Westminster (1/2 mile east of Sheridan at Vrain and 120th. ADDRESS is 4451 Main Street.) We will take secret trails around Westminster and Broomfield where we will experience three incredible hidden displays including THE SOLAR SYSTEM, a brief history of GEOLOGIC COLORADO TIME, and most importantly, the 9/11 MONUMENT. (This ride has an escape option at the 18 mile marker for riders who run out of time and/or steam.) Enjoy a post ride patriotic lunch at Whole Foods. This adventure has received rave reviews with 4 and a half stars from the ride critics!


Saturday, September 14th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS H-2-20 SW Meet  Peter Woulfe (540-219-6674) at Clement Park. Meet behind the library near the skateboard park. We will ride some quiet streets in the Columbine neighborhood to South Platte Canyon Rd., then to the C-470 trail, to Coal Mine Ave., to the Dutch Creek Trail, and return to Clement Park. Bring your lunch to socialize after the ride.


Sunday, September 15th:

9:00 AM FUN-H1-23-Downtown Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for this Incredible Hudson Gardens FREE DRINK Adventure before they close for the season! We will meet at the City of Cuernavaca Park downtown (Exit at 20th Ave going east away from the mountains. Turn right over the bridge onto Little Raven, then turn right onto 19th Street, then right onto Platte River which becomes Rockmont Drive, and go until you dead end into the parking lot at the large bike statue) for this fantastic ride down the Platte River Bike Path to the infamous Hudson Gardens and back. A complementary beverage of your choice will be provided to all riders by DBTC at the break at Nixon’s Coffee House at Hudson Gardens.


Monday, September 16th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H3-29-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Prospect Park (44th & Robb) for a ride west on the Clear Creek Trail to Easley Rd.  We will take Easley to 64th and  ride over the Arvada Reservoir.  After a break, we will ride the entire length of the Ralston Creek Trail connecting to the Clear Creek Trail west back to the park.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.

10:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-26-SE Tallman Gulch and Sulphur Gulch with a stop at Fika Coffee House Meet Susan Larson (720-207-7300) at Arapahoe Road Trailhead (.2 miles east on Arapahoe Rd from the Arapahoe Rd and S. Jordan Rd intersection) for a ride south on the Cherry Creek Trail into Parker and on to the Tallman Gulch Trail. We’ll stop for a break at Fika Coffee House before continuing on through neighborhoods until we reach the Sulpher Gulch trail. We’ll ride that until it connects to the Cherry Creek trail and head back to our starting point. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward. 


Tuesday, September 17th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-28 miles N (774 feet of elevation gain)THE HIDDEN GEMS OF Thornton/Northglenn/Westminster!!! Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for this fairly new Hidden Gems adventure around Thornton and other nearby areas highlighted by Clear Creek, Platte River (including the infamous Thornton Ponds,) backwards on the Highline Canal, HWY 36 Trail, and Little Dry Creek. To do this loop right we need to go 29 miles but it will be well worth the effort! We will meet at Twin Lakes Park (west of Broadway on 70th Ave). Bring food for a post-ride picnic lunch at beautiful Twin Lakes Park.


Wednesday, September 18th:

9:30 AM FUN - H2to3-22 SW Meet Patty Gaspar (303-618-5069) at the Sheridan Library Parking lot west of Federal and Oxford.  We’ll head toward the rebuilt Bow Mar area and go to Bowles Lake, Grant Ranch to Wadsworth and back to Sheridan High School.  We’ll ride some hills and lots of ups and downs, some beautiful quiet streets and pleasant bike paths.  Lunch is at Monaghan’s Bar and Grill 3889 S King St. There used to be a tunnel from there to Fort Logan so the soldiers could sneak out.


Thursday, September 19th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS H2 26 miles NE Rotella Park to Webster Park, Northglenn. Meet Fred Tarbell ,630-888-5290, at Rotella Park, (East end at Shelter 1) 1824 Coronado Pkwy S. Denver.  The route is East out of Rotella Park on Niver Creek to the South Platte bike path. North on Platte to the left junction of the Grange Hall Creek trail.  Follow the trail to Margaret Carpenter Park crossing 104th Ave.  Bathroom break at Carpenter Park before continuing on a green way trail through Thornton and Northglenn suburbs. Turn North along the East side of I-25 interstate to arrive at Webster Park. A break for snacks and water, before returning the same route to Rotella Park. Bring snacks or lunch items if you want to socialize and recover after the ride.


Friday, September 20th:

9:00 AM FUN-H2-23-NWBACKWARDS LIMERICK RIDE. Meet Jeff Krinsky at the parking lot down by Clear Creek Trail and the picnic shelter at Prospect Park (44th & Robb St) in Wheat Ridge for this backwards ride twist. We will ride the Clear Creek, Ralston Creek, Blunn Trail Ride counter clockwise to change things up. In addition, back by popular demand, this ride marks the third return of the great LIMERICK Ride.  So have your favorite rhyme ready or just listen to those of others during the GREAT LIMERICK breaks that are strategically located on the loop!!! 


Saturday, September 21st:

10:00 AM FUN H1-21 SE Explore South High to Central Park (not in NYC) Meet Patty Gaspar(303-618-5069) in the parking lot of South High School, corner of Louisiana and S. Franklin, near the SE corner of Washington Park. The ride will include Westerly Creek, Central Park, City Park, and Cheesman Park. Let’s hope the leader doesn’t get lost again! We can go to Duffy’s for lunch.


Sunday, September 22nd:

CANCELLED DUE TO WINTER WEATHER ADVISERY

9:30 AM FUN PLUS-H3-27-Frisco (Elevation Gain = 1646’) Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for the brand new FREE ICE CREAM TOUR OF LAKE DILLON -  BRECKENRIDGE EDITION (with possible early color changes.) We will ride the multi-use trail around Lake Dillon and climb the Swan Mountain bike path to the top and enjoy the incredible view. Afterwards, we will enjoy the fabulous downhill ride, and then explore Breckenridge. We will then return to the lake completing a circle back to Frisco where DBTC will purchase ice cream for all riders at the Foote Sweet Shoppe. We will meet at the Ten Mile Rec path parking lot at the southeast corner of I-70 & Main Street.  Drive westbound from Denver on I-70 to Exit 201 and look for DBTC members in the parking lot.


Monday, September 23rd:

9:30 AM FUN PLUS-H2-30-SW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at the Stone House (Estes & Yale along the Bear Creek Trail).  We will ride east on the Bear Creek Trail to the South Platte Trail, taking it south up the Chatfield Dam.  We will return the same route and have a break at Nixon’s Coffee before returning to the start.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Tuesday, September 24:

8:30 AM Leisure H1/H2-16-SE Centennial Trails.Meet Jill McMahon (303 888-0314 cell) in the Homestead Farm II  neighborhood near Dry Creek and Monaco.  Please text or call earlier for the exact address.  We will ride through the Willow Spring open space, the Centennial Link Trail and the Highline Canal Trail to the Goodson Recreation Center and return.   Optional lunch will follow.  Bring a snack.

NEW RIDE

9:30 FUN PLUS H2+ 28 miles SW - Meet Diane at the Stone  House and go through the Pinehurst and Bowmar neighborhoods, and those south of Coal Mine to the King Soopers at Ken Caryl and Wadsworth.  Water break and do some back track, then return through Grants Ranch.


Wednesday, September 25th:

10:00 AM FUN-H3-20-SW – Amazing Maze Ride Meet Jeff Messerschmidt (303-904-0573, leave message) at the Stone House, 2900 S. Estes, Lakewood, and cycle west through Lakewood and Morrison, then south and east through unincorporated South JEFFco. We will head up Estes and then head west.


Thursday, September 26th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS H2 30 miles  NE Twin Lakes to Big Dry Creek Meet Fred Tarbell (630-888-5290) at Twin Lakes 226-318 W 70th Ave, (1/8 mi West of Broadway and 70th)  We will  continue West on Clear Creek to junction, (slight right) of Little Dry Creek trail.  Follow Little Dry Creek West to Lowell Blvd intersection. Turn North on Lowell Blvd on sidewalks for about 7 blocks.  At Lowell Blvd and 78 Ave junction connect to US 36  Bikeway on the Left.  Continue West on US 36 bikeway toward Westminster. In Westminster we exit right off US 36 Bikeway under US 36 highway and follow the connecting trail to the Westminster Rec center. A break for water and restrooms at the Center before continuing to Big Dry Creek. Six miles North on Big Dry Creek brings us to BDC park for a longer break with bathroom and water available.  We return on the same route to Twin Lakes for snacks or lunch items if you want to recover at Rotella Park after the ride.


Friday, September 27th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-42-SE Cherry Creek Trail south to Castlewood Canyon Meet Susan Larson (720-207-7300) at Broncos Parkway Trailhead (16400 E. Broncos Parkway, Centennial) for a ride south on the Cherry Creek Trail to its end at Castlewood Canyon.  This is a fairly flat ride (~950 feet total elevation) with a few small hills and one final hill up to the canyon.  It trends uphill on the way south with the reward of a gradual downhill on the way back.  There is one section, about .25 miles, of gravel.  This ride is beautiful any time of the year but may be especially so this time of year if the leaves change early.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Saturday, September 28th:

9:30 AM (was Meet 9:00 AM roll 9:15 AM.) Fun Plus-H3-32 miles Elevation Gain = 1950’. Almost End of Summer Summit County riding!  Meet Lauren Delle (970-903-8409) at Ten Mile parking lot in Frisco at I-70 & Main St. We will ride via bike path from Frisco Ten Mile Parking Lot up to  Vail Pass, then back down and up Fremont Pass bike path extender at Copper Mountain, then return to Frisco.  Bring $$ for lunch in Frisco at the end of the ride. Limit 10 riders, please RSVP via text by end of day Friday, Sept 27th.  Ride will not go if it is snowy or rainy. Text/Call if in doubt. Carpooling: If you want to carpool with someone, let me know and I’ll try to help coordinate.


Sunday, September 29th:

9:30 AM FUN-H2-22-NW -THE REALLY RADICAL RAT RACE RODENT RIDE. Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for this fairly new ride that takes us around the trails of Rock Creek, Interlocken and Broomfield highlighted by the new bike overpass between Interlocken and Broomfield leading to never before seen trails!!! Come find out how this ride got it’s name. (We may also stop by my house to see the Halloween decorations.) Meet at the SE corner of the Safeway parking lot at the Rock Creek Village Shopping Center in Superior. Rock Creek Village is centrally located in Superior at the NW corner of Coalton and Rock Creek Parkway (Address is 1601 Coalton Road Superior, CO. 80027.)


Monday, September 30th:

9:30 AM FUN PLUS-H2-21-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Anderson Park (44th & Field) for a ride west on the Clear Creek Trail to the Peak-to-Plains Trail, which we will take to the current construction point.  We will then return to Parfet Park for a break, and then return to the start on the Clear Creek Trail.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.


Plan Ahead: Wednesday, October 2nd:

10:00 AM FUN PLUS-H1-43-N Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) and Lauren Delle (970-903-8409) at the River Bluffs Open Space Trailhead in Windsor.  We will ride the Poudre River Trail (all paved) in Larimer County for 21 miles to the Greeley Fairgrounds, where we will have a break.  We will return via the same route.  DIRECTIONS:  From I-25 North, take exit 262 east for 1.5 miles to County Rd 3.  Go north on County Rd 3 for 0.5 miles to County Rd 32E.  Then go east on County Rd 32E for 0.3 miles to the entrance of the River Bluffs Open Space.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic after the ride.
