11:00 AM INT H2-35 (1116 ft elevation) SE Cherry Creek Trail/Reservoir and Colorado Front Range Trail Extravaganza. Meet Peter Rudy (303-406-3709) for his second ride as a leader! This ride is geared at longer distance, maintaining a consistent (not blistering) pace (15+-). Yes, it will still be a very fun and scenic ride but focused on improving your endurance for longer rides, such as for bike tours. It's not a race. The ride is limited to 12 people - you will need to sign up and RSVP on Meet-up. Text with questions.
We will meet at the little known, Cook Park Recreation Center, 7100 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver. It borders Monaco. Park in the northwest Corner of the lot. The lower part of Cherry Creek Trail is far less crowded with walkers and mostly competent, faster road cyclists.
From Cook Rec Center, we go south on the Cherry Creek Trail (CCT) to Kennedy Park, under C270 to Cherry Crk Res, then around the east side of the Res into the State Park. We will take the little known EAST SIDE Cherry Creek State Park trail. We will continue south to C470 trail, then we bike west a bit to Happy Canyon Trail, then north to CCT, and back to where the CCT enters CC State Park. But we now will be going around the Res on the west side. We will then take the CCT back to Kennedy Park, and to our point of beginning.
We will have a stopping point about halfway. I suggest bringing something to nibble. As many of you know, the entire second half is a slight (but lovely) downhill!
Here is my attempt at mapping on Ride with GPS.

Thursday Dec 25, 2025
11:00 AM Fun+ H2-20+- Meet Peter Rudy (720-588-3666) at a place to be determined. The pace: 14-15 - not leisurely but not a speedy pace. Appropriate for road, gravel, mountain, analog and e-bikes.
Will post Monday. It will be straightforward, such as on the S. Platte Trail and Chatfield. I am picking the S Platte because of the central location. Or, might pick REI Denver down the Platte, because the lot is open and free parking. Or maybe on the upper Platte.
Helen and I always rode on Christmas Day (before eating too much at Christmas dinner) - and this year she will be in the UK. And when I lived in Virginia, Christmas and NY Day rides were a tradition. So, my mentors at the DBTC suggested I put this out there.
If you think you may want to do a short ride, please RSVP. NO OBLIGATION. I will not take it (too) personally if you cancel.

Wednesday Dec 31, 2025
LET ME TRY AGAIN for a NY Eve Ride. The last day of the year is still predicted to be our last 60 degree day for awhile.
11:00 AM INT INTERMEDIATE H2/3 35 miles 1000 ft elevation 14-15 mph pace. Meet Peter Rudy (720-588-3666) for a spirited New Year's Eve ride down the Cherry Creek Trail. We start at the Village Greens Playground Parking Lot, 9501 E Union Ave, Greenwood Village, CO 80111, USA. At the intersection of East Union, Dayton and the Dam Road.
PRIOR SIGN UP FOR THIS INTERMEDIATE ROAD RIDE IS REQUIRED ON MEETUP - so I can contact you with updates.
RIDE IS LIMITED TO 15. More than that would require too much regrouping that would spoil the ride.
OK, here is my second try for a New Year's Eve Ride. In hindsight, I suppose my prior planned 49.99 mile ride was a bit much for late December and New Year's Eve. I will do it again. More appropriate for summer.
This 35 mile ride is an abbreviated version of my prior attempt. We now have a guarantee of a bathroom at our turn around -- McCabe Trailhead. We may stop at the luxurious Salisbury Equestrian Park next door. Working on that.
Here is the NEW route on Ride with GPS. It has been uploaded to the Club Library. Called NYE Cherry Creek Dam
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53591328
This will be an out and back from the top of the CC dam, through the Park, on the CC Trail to the McCabe Trail Head and Salisbury Equestrian Center in Parker. We will be going around both sides of CC reservoir, including one of my favorite areas - called the Parker Road Trail, on the far east and inside CC State Park. Dead gorgeous.
WHO IS THIS RIDE FOR: This is an intermediate ride. Focus on consistent pace for Road and Gravel analog and e-bikes. It is not a race. But it is not a laid back, leisure ride. Limited stops. BUT a nice trail head and equestrian center at the turn around.
BUT: This ride is not for commuter, upright, cruiser, cargo or mountain e-bikes. You should be comfortable (your butt and legs) with doing a 25-30 mile ride. The first half is a slight uphill and the going back is mostly downhill.
Bring water for the ride (Shout out to Patti!)- the only water enroute MAY be the half way point. Almost all, if not all, trail water is turned off - its the freaking middle of winter! Bring nibbles for our stop.
Last Note: this is an out and back. If someone wants to stop midway, we can catch them up on the turnaround. AND the benefit of the DBTC Ride with GPS file: you always know exactly where you are.
