
August 2026 DBTC Ride Schedule
Saturday, August 1st:
9:00 AM FUN-H2-23-NW (Elevation Gain = 998) Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for THE HIDDEN GEMS OF ARVADA. We have all experienced the traditional Arvada classic trails of Ralston Creek, Clear Creek, and Van Bibber. Check out this alternate route instead that explores Lake Arbor, the Pomona Lakes, the Arvada Fire Fighter’s Park, the backside of baseball, and other forgotten areas and is guaranteed to be an adventure! Meet at the SE corner of HWY 36 and 104th at the back side of the new HotPot, formally Black Bear Diner, formerly Quaker State and Lube Restaurant (10392 Reed St., Westminster, CO) by a hidden entrance to a hidden trail where the adventure will begin (and end).
Monday, August 3rd:
9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-22-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Anderson Park (44th & Field) for a ride west on the Clear Creek Trail to Easley Rd. We will ride north to 60th Ave (becomes 58th) to Hwy 93, which we will take south for approximately one mile on a wide shoulder. After a break at Norman D Memorial Park in Golden, we will ride down Tucker Gulch to the Clear Creek Trail and back to the start. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.
Tuesday, August 4th:
9:00 AM FUN H1 20 miles NE Rotella Park to Little Dry Creek Meet Fred Tarbell at 226-318 W 70th Ave Denver, 1/8 mile West of Broadway and 224 Ave. Ride West on Clear Creek to Little Dry Creek junction. Follow Little Dry Creek through urban neighborhoods to W 80th Ave. Then connect to Arbor Park Lake for a lake loop ride before returning to W 80th Ave. We will continue West along 80th Ave and Yarrow St to stop at King Scoopers for a bathroom break. Continue West to Little Dry Creek trail passing around Pomona Lake. After a midride break at a small neighborhood park we will return East on Little Dry Creek back to Twin Lakes. Welcome to bring lunch items to stay and visit after the ride.
9:00 AM INT-H3-24-1800’ elev gain “EMPIRE ICE CREAM RIDE” MEET 9:00am REGISTER BY TEXT (303-905-8510) to lead by July 9, 5:00PM. Meet Marilyn Choske for this Idaho Springs-to-Empire ride. Drive/ meet directions follow description. Pedal on bikepath/trail thru Idaho Springs, onto Stanley Road and Hwy 40 to Empire Dairy King. NOTE–there is no good shoulder on Hwy 40 to climb up to Empire; use caution. Dairy King opens at **11:00AM**. (We sometimes have to wait a few mins) Bring $ to purchase and enjoy your ice cream treat. Return the same route. CASUAL pace to and ZIPPITY-DO-DAH from Empire (mostly downhill). Limit 8 riders, including leader. Ride won’t go if rainy or forecast is for morning rain; call the leader if in doubt. ==> DIRECTIONS: I-70 Exit 241. Take first RIGHT at the exit roundabout and follow the road up & over I-70. Just past the green sign, turn RIGHT towards County Road 314 (if you miss this turn, you’re back on eastbound I-70!). Turn RIGHT at the stop sign & continue to the ballpark ahead and park on the north side of the park. Look for the leader’s red Kia Sportage w/bike rack.

HIGHLINE CANAL to WATERTON CANYON to CHATFIELD STATE PARK GRAVEL RIDE
8:45 Meeting –9 AM Ride – FUN – H2 – appx. 700’ elevation gain. Appx 23 miles - 20 gravel plus 3 paved miles 10-12 average MPH, both REGULAR and ELECTRIC bikes welcome Meet Cynthia Withers at the Highline Canal parking lot next to the Highline Canal trail on Chatfield Lake Road, approximately ½ mile south of the Chatfield State Park entrance. Please note there is no water available at this location. The water station is at Waterton Canyon.We will ride south along the Highline Canal to Waterton Canyon. Then we climb up Waterton Canyon to the Strontia Springs Reservoir where we break for a snack before descending back to the Chatfield Discovery Pavillion parking lot. On our return leg, we will follow the Chatfield path to the Gravel Ponds and finally head south on the road back to our cars at the parking lot. Wednesday, August 5th:
9:00AM FUN PLUS H-2-34 Miles SW Meet Peter Woulfe (540-219-6674) at the west end of the parking lot for the Broken Tee Golf Course (2101 W. Oxford, Englewood 80110). We will ride the South Platte to the C-470 trail, then to the perimeter road, exiting the rear gate to Roxborough Park Rd. We will have one mile of no bike lane. Left on Titan with a stop at Atlas Coffee Shop, bring $ if you want something, then to Eagle River and return. Bring your lunch to socialize after the ride.
9:00 AM FUN - H2to3-22 SW Meet Patty Gaspar (303-618-5069) at the Sheridan Library Parking lot 3425 W Oxford Ave (west of Federal on Oxford). We’ll head toward the rebuilt Bow Mar area and go to Bowles Lake, Grant Ranch to Wadsworth and back to Sheridan High School. We’ll ride some hills and lots of ups and downs, some beautiful quiet streets and pleasant bike paths. Lunch is at Monaghan’s Bar and Grill 3889 S King St. There used to be a tunnel from there to Fort Logan so the soldiers could sneak out.

9:00 AM INT H3, 29 miles 3000 feet of gain- Meet Diane Short at 9:00 at the Chief Hosa (exit 253) trailhead parking lot on the north side of I-70, Stapleton Drive. Take the bike path to Soda Creek, on to Alta Vista, Woodside and a break in Bergen Park. Then do several loops in the Bergen Park neighborhoods, back to Chief Hosa exit with option for 3 mile loop in Cold Spring Ranch. RWGps attached. Start is at trailhead on the north, Not the campground on the south.

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H1-20-SW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at the Stone House (Estes & Yale along the Bear Creek Trail). We will ride east on the Bear Creek Trail to the South Platte Trail, where we will ride south to Nixon’s Coffee for a break. We will return via the same route. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-28-SE Village Greens to REI Meet Susan Larson (720-207-7300) at Village Greens Park (9501 East Union Avenue, Greenwood Village) for a ride north on the Cherry Creek Trail. We’ll make a stop at REI for a break and then return via the same route. Remember the Starbucks at REI is now closed. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy after the ride. The ride is limited to 10 riders. Wednesday, August 12th:
9:00 AM FUN-H2-20 miles SW Enjoy the Gardens Meet Patty Gaspar (303-618-5069) at Nixon’s Coffee Shop at Hudson Gardens. The parking lot for trail use is at the north end of Hudson Gardens behind the car wash on Maplewood Street. There is a short trail down to the coffee shop. You cannot ride your bike in the gardens. We’ll wander through shady streets and trails in BowMar South and Grant Ranch then streak down Pierce down to the Bear Creek Trail back to the Gardens. Lunch on the patio – bring or buy. Then we can walk through the gardens and actually stop and smell the roses.

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-3- 20.8 miles-SE, 1,400’ elevation gain Lone Tree, Castle Pines and Daniels Park Meet Bill Monroe (630-386-7935) at the Lone Tree Arts Center 10075 Commons St, Lone Tree, CO 80124. The ride will go through Surrey Ridge, Beverly Hills, Castle Pines and Lone Tree. We will stop at Daniels Park which has one of the best views of the entire Front Range, downtown Denver and the Tech Center. It’s a Denver Mountain Park and there is a buffalo herd. 8:00 AM Intermediate H3-NW-37 miles-+2480’ elevation gain. Crown Hill Park to Turkey Creek-Red Rocks Golden Meet Donald (720-785-0616) at Crown Hill Park – 26th and Garland St. Pace will be Intermediate with regrouping to keep everyone together. Monday, August 17th:
9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-22-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Anderson Park (44th & Field) for a ride north up Garrison to Olde Town Arvada and then to the Ralston Creek Trail. We will ride west on the Ralston Creek Trail to the west side of the Westwoods Golf Course for a break. We will return via Easley Rd and the Clear Creek Trail. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterward.
Tuesday, August 18th:
9:00 AM FUNPLUS-H2-25 miles-SE Six Trails Ride Meet Robert Drucker (303-475-4964) at the Lone Tree Art Center, 10075 Commons Street, Lone Tree 80124. Nice relatively level terrain on sections of the Willow Creek, Little Dry Creek, Centennial Link, Highline Canal, Lee Gulch and C-470 trails. Approximately 7 miles on gravel similar to and including the Highline Canal. We will take water breaks and a rest stop at the Goodson Center. Average 11-15 MPH. Six Trails – Modified – Ride with GPS.
Wednesday, August 19th:

Thursday, August 20th:
9:00 AM -12:00 PM FUN PLUS-H2/3- 27 miles-SE, 1,600’ elevation gain Meet Bill Monroe 630-386-7935 at The Pinery Trailhead, 6662 N Pinery Pkwy, Parker, CO 80134 (It’s a dead end road but it is the right road. Go to the end) . This is a beautiful ride is all on paved trails from Parker to Castle Rock and back. We will ride the Cherry Creek Trail, McMurdo Gulch Trail, Woodlands Trail, Hangman’s Gulch Trail and Plum Creek Trail. There are a few road crossings but no road riding. The McMurdo Gulch trail to Founders Parkway is challenging (6 miles, 2% average grade which includes a couple of very short 4+% climbs) as will be the return from Castle Rock to Founders Parkway. We will have several water breaks/ rest stops as needed. Turn around will be at the Festival Park in downtown Castle Rock. Friday, August 21st:
9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-31-SE Meet Susan Larson (720-2077-7300) at Arapahoe Road Trailhead (.2 miles east on Arapahoe Rd from the Arapahoe Rd and S. Jordan Rd intersection) for a double-loop ride! We’ll ride the Cherry Creek Trail north and loop around Cherry Creek Reservoir and head south where we’ll pick up the Piney Creek Trail. We’ll ride that out to Red-tailed Hawk Park for a short break. From there we’ll pick up the High Plains Trail, cross the Parker Road bridge and end up back on the Cherry Creek Trail heading north for the second loop. Bring a sack lunch or snacks to enjoy after the ride. The ride is limited to 10 riders. Please sign up on Meetup for this ride.
