KATY TRAIL RAMBLE

$1,600 per person, no single supplement available.

Fun rating.

The 239-mile Katy Trail is flat, yet scenic as it stretches across most of the state of Missouri. The high point of the Katy Trail is 955 feet.   After leaving Clinton, the crushed gravel trail winds through peaceful farmland and charming small towns.  Then we follow Lewis and Clark’s path along the Missouri River.

Over the next 6-days, we will ride across the state of Missouri experiencing the hospitality and beauty of the "Show Me" State. Enjoy rural Missouri wildlife, winery towns and the views along the Missouri River.

The Katy Trail has a crushed gravel surface, and hybrid/touring/road bikes/e-bikes are all acceptable. Bikes should have tires with tread and widths of 32 mm or wider for the most comfortable experience.

THE RIDE

Day 1.  Arrive in Clinton where we will have a welcome dinner and talk about our adventure.

Day 2.    Clinton to Sedalia.         37.5 miles

Our ride passes through pasture and prairie first settled by European pioneers traveling by wagon train. Sedalia is home of the State Fair as well as the KATY Trail Depot museum.

Day 3.      Sedalia to Rocheport.         48.8 miles

Today’s scenery rolls through agricultural lands along the relatively flat trail bed of the old MKT line. We will parallel the north edge of the river, following the route of Lewis & Clark. Before reaching Rocheport, we will pass through a scenic tunnel.

Day 4.     Rocheport to Jefferson City.         35.1 miles

As we leave Rocheport, we will enjoy perhaps the most scenic section of the Katy Trail with the bluffs on our left and the Missouri River on our right.

Day 5.     Jefferson City to Hermann.          46.4 miles

The scenery features views of farms and wineries as we enter the “Rhineland Region”, settled by Germans in the early 1800’s. Hermann is home to four  wineries, two brewing companies and one distilling company.

Day 6.     Hermann to Washington.         32.8 miles

Take in the open views of central Missouri as we roll past fields and conservation lands

Day 7.     Washington to St. Charles.         37.5 miles

On our last day biking the Katy Trail, we travel through woodlands alongside the Missouri River and back into the populated suburbs surrounding St. Louis. Arriving in St. Charles, we end our trip at Frontier Park where statues of Lewis and Clark will greet you.

We spend the night in St. Charles to enjoy the historic downtown as well as a farewell dinner.

Day 8.

We shuttle four hours back to our cars in Clinton and say our goodbyes.
